How to Turn Off Startup Sound on Windows 10

Hello SagarK_1 , I'm Didi, an independent advisor.

Click on Start, type "regedit" and click on "Registry Editor".

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\BootAnimation and tell us what is the value of "DisableStartupSound".

At the top of the Registry Editor click "File" > "Export" and choose a safe place to make a backup of your registry as a security.

Now double-click on "DisableStartupSound" and set the value data as 1.

Restart your computer and tell us if it disables the startup sound.

Right-click on "DisableStartupSound", click "Delete", restart your computer and check if it allows you to check / uncheck "Play Windows Startup Sound".

Launch it, click "Yes" when it warns you, restart your computer and check if the "Play Windows Startup Sound" is ungrayed.

Hello Sagark_1,

It looks like you have a group policy configured to always enable the Windows Startup sound causing thePlay Windows Startup sound check box to be checked and grayed out.

You can use the downloadable .reg file in step 4 of Option Four in the tutorial below to clear this group policy and allow you to uncheck thePlay Windows Startup sound check box afterwards.
